When all there seems to be are reality shows on the TV, what a welcome it is to visit The Capitol in Horsham during the week.
How lucky we are to have such a wonderful facility close to our doorsteps.
In the past month my family and I have enjoyed an evening meal at Strada, with a short walk to see Daniel Craig doing his thing as 007.
My husband and I then followed it up by seeing Elkie Brooks, who at 67 years can still sing. The theatre is such an intimate size that you feel like it’s a private audience with someone that has been in the music business for so many years and ‘Pearl’s a Singer’ still sounds as clear as the original recording.
What was nice to hear, is that Elkie Brooks found the staff of The Capitol as I have always found them, very helpful.
We had a relaxed meal at the Black Jug before the theatre with good food, reasonably priced and attentive, pleasant staff.
As a gift for my parents the next night, they attended The Capitol and enjoyed Syd Lawrence Orchestra’s performance as did a full audience.
Long may we enjoy this small and delightful theatre that allows you to take drinks to your seats!
I fear that we will lose this facility as the area becomes so busy with all the new housing, that there just will not be enough seats to accommodate us all let alone places to park!
How sad that will be but inevitable through the large scale housing being inflicted on our area.
