Reception have been learning about differences and similarities in their childhoods and those of their grandparents.

Having invited their own grandparents into school to be interviewed, the children were keen to visit some other ‘older’ people who may not have their own families close by and would appreciate the company.

Handcross Park has a commitment to giving the children an understanding of community, and the importance of building up relationships within it and this created an ideal opportunity for the reception children to pay a visit to Homestream House.

Once they had carefully greeted all the residents with a handshake and a smile, they got down to the important part of the afternoon, enjoying one another’s company!

The children even came back to school with some new games from childhoods past.

The residents commented on how polite and well presented the children were, although some may have needed a rest afterwards to recover.

The children are hoping that their new friends will be paying them a visit at the school soon.
