Farlington School is running its first jazz music workshop for talented instrumentalists aged 9 to 11 on Saturday March 5 between 9.30am and 11.30am.
The workshop will be open to boys and girls from Farlington and local schools who play any instrument at Grade 2 and above. Jazz musician and Farlington Prep School music teacher Brian Dallimore will lead the session. He said: “Students will move, sing and play, whilst learning to improvise rhythmically and melodically.
“Jazz music is perfect for developing both musical aural skills and instrumental playing ability.
“The activities in this workshop are based on a classic ‘bee-bop’ number by Dizzy Gillespie that has fantastic energy, with intricate and exciting rhythms.”
The cost for the workshop, which includes a performance to parents at the end. is £10. Places are limited. To reserve a space email firstname.lastname@example.org
