Young actor's Star Wars claim exposed

A 23-year-old actor falsely claimed he played a Stormtrooper in the new Star Wars film, it has been revealed.

Alex Rolt, who grew up in Crawley and has moved to Horsham, drew widespread praise after he said played the masked soldier who shouted ‘traitor’ during a fight scene with John Boyega’s character, Finn.

Posting a picture of the scene on Twitter, he said: “Loved shooting this, top guy John Boyega. Hope you enjoyed it @JamesGunn #StarWarsTheForceAwakens #Stormtrooper”

The film’s production company Lucasfilm revealed the character, which has been nicknamed ‘TR-8R’, was actually performed by Liang Yang, on starwars.com

Mr Rolt apologised on Twitter: “Sorry for doing this to all the fans. Was a joke that got out of hand. My career is tarnished.”
