Woman killed in Arundel crash is named

The elderly woman who died in a crash near Arundel last week has been named by police.

Margaret Beaman suffered fatal injuries after the black Volkswagen Passat she was driving left the A27 and collided with a tree at around 12.19pm on Tuesday, May 3, a Sussex Police spokesman said.

The 77-year-old, of Fitzalan Road, Arundel, was declared dead at the scene, close to the White Swan hotel.

A huge emergency response including police, the fire and ambulance service, and an air ambulance attended the incident.

The A27 was closed in both directions for several hours before reopening later that evening.

Police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident is to email [email protected] or call 101 quoting Operation Alcroft.
