Will UKIP’s Roger Arthur oust Francis Maude in 2015?

The former Conservative deputy leader of Horsham district council is bidding to take Francis Maude’s seat as Horsham MP in the 2015 general election.

Roger Arthur, who defected to UKIP in March this year, citing his anger at the Cameron regime and its policies, has been confirmed as a prospective parliamentary candidate for his new party.

Speaking the County Times this morning, Mr Arthur (UKIP, Chactonbury), said: “I have been selected as a prospective parliamentary candidate, and I have nominated Horsham as the seat I would like to stand in, and the local branch has said they would like me to represent them.”

The 70 year old from Storrington revealed he punched the air with joy when he was first told the news, and he is now relishing the opportunity to de-seat one of the Tory party’s most prominent grandees, Horsham MP and Cabinet Secretary Francis Maude.
