The Loxwood-based charity is urging its supporters to get behind the fundraising initiative, run by not-for-profit social enterprise Localgiving, which match funds donations.

In this year’s Grow Your Tenner campaign, supporters setting up a monthly donation of up to £10 will see the first six months of their donations matched by Localgiving.

Direct debits can be matched up to £10, so even smaller amounts can make a big difference.

The initiative has proved a hugely successful fundraiser for the Trust in previous years and has gone a long way towards helping move nearer to its goal of restoring the 23 miles of waterway between Shalford in Surrey and Pallingham in West Sussex.

Trust Chairman Sally Schupke said: “The Grow Your Tenner initiative proves a simple and effective way for the Trust to boost its funds and ensure the current restoration moves forward.

“It has played a big part in recent restoration projects, such as the completion of Gennets Bridge Lock earlier this year, and I hope our supporters get behind the scheme.

“To set up a monthly donation and receive the match funding, all supporters have to do is go to https://localgiving.com/charity/wact.”

The campaign started on Tuesday December 11 and runs until the match funding pot runs out, or 12am on Thursday January 10 - whichever comes first.
