Visitors will be able to wander around the village to discover 20 lovingly-tended gardens of all shapes and sizes with colourful flowers, shrubs and trees. Some will be open for the first time whilst others are old favourites.

For the keen gardener, plants will be on sale in gardens and other outlets.

Those popping down will also be able to visit community buildings and artists’ studios to admire and buy a huge range of locally-made arts and crafts.

Displays include photography, painting, ceramics, jewellery, garden sculpture and needlework among many others.

There will also be pottery and wooding demonstrations and the Henfield Miniature Project Group will be presenting ‘The Night before Christmas’ at Maidment Court.

For music-lovers there will be a plethora of events ranging from Morris dancing; brass, jazz, and folk bands; solo and choral singing to guitar and ukulele music. Try your hand at handbell ringing or get up and dance to Brazilian carnival music.

A good number of the venues will offer home-made lunches, teas and drinks, and of course cafes and pubs will be open. Special events include guided history and birdwatching walks as well as a children’s trail.

The whole weekend culminates in a musical finale in the grounds of Red Oaks Barchester home with a glass of Pimms.

Most of the venues are walkable along the many footpaths and twittens which are a feature of Henfield, but a minibus will take you to the few outlying venues.

A comprehensive guide can be picked up from many outlets in Henfield and surrounding villages and towns giving full details of all the venues and events to enjoy.
