Chichester’s courts will close, it has today been announced, meaning there will never again be a scene like back in 1967 when hundreds famously turned out to witness the Rolling Stones appear on drugs charges.
Mick Jagger and Keith Richards were mobbed by hordes of reporters and fans outside court after Richards’ mansion in West Wittering had been raided by police.
Lead singer Jagger and guitarist Richards were at the time both 24, and after pleading not guilty they were cleared of all charges.
Watch footage of the pair emerging from Chichester’s court smoking cigarettes and wading through a sea of people before being whisked off in a car.
