Many Horsham district residents awoke to a find a light covering of snow outside their homes this morning (Tuesday February 3).
Temperatures plunged below freezing overnight and the cold snap is expected to continue for several days.
The Met Office has issued an amber severe weather warning for the South East from today until Monday February 9 and is forecasting more snow on Wednesday February 4.
The Met Office’s amber warning reads: “Cold conditions will persist, with widespread overnight frosts, locally severe, and low daytime temperatures.
“The cold conditions will be accentuated at times by strong winds, most notably across eastern and southern England later in the week.
“Snow showers will occur, some becoming heavy, especially across eastern England, leading to slight accumulations of snow. There is a risk of icy stretches or widespread ice forming on untreated surfaces during the night time periods, particularly across eastern areas.”
