A local 16-year-old girl has made it to the final round of a UK-wide charitable beauty pageant and is going on a charity sky-dive at the end of August.
Mikayla Cornish, of Rusper, who this year graduated at Tanbridge House School, is one of 80 girls selected from 20,000 Teen Queen UK entrants.
The dance and rifle-shooting enthusiast is to take part in a sky-dive to raise funds for Allambie Orphanage in Vietnam’s capital, Ho Chi Ming City, as part of the competition.
She said: “It’s a bit of a cliche for me to say it would mean everything for me to win but it would.
“It’s a once in a life-time opportunity because I’ve never had anything like this before and I never thought I would.”
She has so far raised five hundred pounds.
