Horsham Matters in East Street has wrapped a shelving unit and behind each day an item linked with the Christmas story.

Shop manager Rob Carter said: “I had the idea and a lots of people helped to make it work. I was a big unit and it had 25 spaces and I thought it would be good to try it.

“Lots of people are coming in saying they really like it. They want to know what’s going to happen the next day.”

Behind each of the 25 days is a cuddly toy relating to the Biblical nativity story.

On December 5 the item was a Disney Eeyore toy symbolising the donkey which Mary and Joseph used to travel to Bethlehem.

Horsham Matters is a Christian charity, but they have been helping people of all faiths and none for about a decade.

Rob said: “We wanted to do an overtly Christian Christmas message and we thought it would be a nonthreatening way of doing it.”
