After months of planning and five days of painting, Tony Eadie, of Horsham, showed off his creation at the charity based in Springfield Road.

Tony, 38, who runs his company EazyArt part-time, volunteered to paint the mural for the charity that supports adults with learning difficulties.

He said: “I am over the moon and amazed.

“I have watched it come together step by step and day by day - I love seeing their smiles.”

Television personality Dave Benson-Phillips made a surprise visit to the project as the mural was unveiled.

Tony said: “He turned around and said ‘three cheers’ - I got quite emotional then.

“I want to do this for the rest of my life.”

Many of the Butterfly Project’s regular visitors, as well as its staff, expressed their delight at the new addition to the premises.

Julene Macgregor, assistant manager of the Butterfly Project, said: “It has been absolutely brilliant - we have really been looking forward to this.

“They have had their say in what they wanted in it, and it means they appreciate it a lot more.”

Tony is hoping to decorate more of the project’s outside walls, and Julene said a recent holiday to Cornwall organised by the charity may provide inspiration for his next creation.
