A Virgin plane with a ‘technical fault’ is preparing to make a non-standard landing at Gatwick Airport.
A spokesman for Gatwick Airport said: “Gatwick can confirm that Virgin Atlantic flight VS043 which departed Gatwick Airport at around 11.45am is returning to Gatwick after the aircraft developed a technical fault.
“In line with standard procedure, emergency services are on standby at the airport purely as a precaution.”
Emergency services including ambulances are at the scene. It is believed there is a fault with the landing gear.
The plan has been circling for more than three hours. It took off at 11.45am this morning (December 29).
