A woman, aged in her 40s, was trapped in her vehicle and had to be rescued by fire crews using hydraulic rescue equipment.

She had suffered injuries to her abdomen and chest and was immobilised as a precaution for any potential injuries - though she was not seriously hurt.

She was taken to East Surrey Hospital by ambulance.

Two other people, who were able to get out of the other car, were also taken to hospital.

The road is blocked and work to recover the vehicles is under way.
