UPDATE: Rail passengers face major problems due to Storm Imogen

Rail passengers have been facing delays to and from the south coast today (Monday February 8) due to a number of obstructions on the line and a problem at Ford level crossing.

Services throughout the south of England have been subject to delays, short notice alterations and cancellations.

Gatwick Express has been running a reduced service.

Network Rail’s engineers are preparing to deploy across the network to inspect lines and repair any damage as quickly as possible.

A number of the problems have been resolved including:

Delays between Brighton / Hove and Haywards Heath

Trains are now able to run normally between Brighton / Hove and Haywards Heath following electrical supply problems between Hove and Preston Park.

Delays between Havant and Horsham / Worthing

Trains are now able to run normally between Havant and Horsham / Worthing following disruption caused by an earlier broken down train at Chichester.

Delays between Purley and Caterham

Trains are now running normally between Purley and Caterham following an obstruction on the line at Kenley.

Delays between Horsham / Worthing / Littlehampton and Bognor Regis / Havant

Trains are now able to run normally between Horsham / Worthing / Littlehampton and Bognor Regis / Havant following a problem at a level crossing at Ford.

A tree on the line near Haywards Heath has caused further delays of up to 20 minutes between Haywards Heath and Three Bridges but reports say this has now been cleared.
