Officers are waiting for confirmation the building is safe before assessing the damage, although the spokesperson said there was no initial indications of any suspicious circumstances.

Two fire crews from Horsham and one from Billingshurst were initially sent to the scene, and a fourth crew from Crawley later joined.

Relief crews remain at the site and Bashurst Hill is still closed in both directions at the A264 Five Oaks Road junction.
