Police are investigating a burglary at the Co-op Store in Lindfield High Street. Police said it took place at around 3am on Sunday (November 15).

Officers said the front window of the store was smashed and a cash machine containing a substantial amount of money was dragged from inside by a rope attached to large green two door 4x4 Landrover Discovery which contained two men.

The vehicle had been stolen earlier in the night from Crawley. Shortly before 6pm on Sunday a member of the public reported seeing it abandoned in Barcombe Mills Road, Barcombe. The cash machine was inside and was empty,

Detective Sergeant Alex Lowe said: “We would like to hear from anyone else who saw what happened or saw the Land Rover in the area before, at the time or after the burglary.

“The full registration number is K377 DHJ and we are keen to hear only from anyone who saw it between about 6pm on Saturday evening, when it was last seen by its owner parked in Baylis Walk, Crawley, and about 10am on Sunday morning when it was first seen abandoned in Barcombe, although it was not reported to the police until Sunday evening.”
