UPDATE: Hundreds left without power across district

Hundreds of homes have been left without power across the Horsham district this morning (Monday February 8).

High winds brought down an overhead power line in the Wimland Road area of Rusper, cutting off electricity supplies to 161 properties, UK Power Networks has said.

The issue was reported at around 9.45am.

Engineers are currently dealing with the problem and have switched off power to the homes in order to fix the line.

At 10.40am power had been restored to 20 properties.

A spokesman for the electricity provider said: “We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and will reconnect all remaining supplies as soon as possible.”

Another power line was also brought down in the Amberley Road area of Storrington at around 7.40am.

Electricity supplies to 31 homes were switched off in order for engineers to carry out repair works safely.

UK Power Networks said power was restored to all homes affected by 2pm.

Engineers also fixed a ‘power interruption’ which cut off electricity supplies to 13 homes in the Pollards Drive area.

The problem was reported at around 3am and was fixed at by 10.35am.
