He continued: “What better place? I love the high street, it’s a fantastic one. The town’s friendly and accommodating.”

The new director of operations at the Olive Branch aims to develop the establishment into a ‘high street pub’.

Patrick O’Looney, 43, the director of operations, said: “We are delighted to get the opportunity to take over such a great and historic pub in such a good town.

“We believe it’s a great opportunity for us to help this pub grow as a high street pub that offers good quality food and drink.”

All the previous waitresses and bar staff will be re-employed by the new management.

Barman, Gaber Moustafa, of Horsham, originally from Egypt, said: “It’s great to have the bar reopen again.

“It was worrying when the pub closed because we have regulars and we would like to keep them.”

The director also plans to run live music nights from time to time.

The Olive Branch has lowered its food prices and is increasing its range of real ales.

It will remain a Hall and Woodhouse Brewers branch.

Patrick, who has been in the pub industry for almost 30 years, added: “I want it to be seen as a nice bar that sells good food.”
