United Nations visits Horsham after crime partnership success

A party from the United Nations visited Horsham last week to find out more about the success of the district’s work to prevent crime.

The Horsham District Community Safety Partnership welcomed representatives from the UN in Kosovo at the Horsham District Council offices on Tuesday April 2.

Cllr Sue Rogers, chairman of the Horsham District Community Safety Partnership, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the tour party from Gjilan in Kosovo to the Horsham District. The delegation, which included the local Mayor and Chief of Police, came to the UK in an EU organised study tour to learn from partner organisations about how we work together in a collective way to reduce crime and disorder in West Sussex.

“The Horsham district element of the visit was with the specific goal of learning about the successful work of the Horsham District Community Safety Partnership which has been operating for 14 years and contributes towards the district’s status as being the safest place in West Sussex.

“Partners shared with the tour party some of the key projects and work programmes being delivered locally and we hope that they are able to take on some of this good practice and apply it locally within Kosovo.”

The Horsham District Community Safety Partnership is a statutory partnership of Horsham District Council, West Sussex County Council, Sussex Police, Sussex Police Authority, Saxon Weald, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service, Surrey and Sussex Probation Trust, and NHS West Sussex.
