Two Horsham drivers banned from roads

Two men from Horsham have been banned from the roads after being arrested as part of Sussex Police’s crackdown on drink-driving last month.

David Clarke, 42, of Cook Road, was arrested at 1.25pm on December 7 after he was found sitting in his car that had crashed into a bollard at Tanbridge Retail Park in Albion Way.

He pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on January 7 and was banned from driving for a year as well as being told to pay a £100 fine, a £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

Martin Hills, of Moorhead Road, was also arrested at 3.10am on December 10 after he was found to be more two times over the drink-drive limit.

Officers were tipped off by a member of the public that the 25-year-old had seemed unsteady as he was getting into his car in High Street, Crawley.

He pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on January 7 and was banned from driving for 18 months as well as being told to pay a £150 fine, a £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
