Thirty tonnes of sawdust goes up in flames in Billingshurst

Thirty tonnes of waste sawdust were involved in a fire on farmland in Billingshurst yesterday morning (Tuesday July 21).

Firefighters were called to the blaze on open ground off West Chiltington Lane at around 8am.

Two hose reels were used to extinguish the flames and a mechanical digger was used to assist in turning over the sawdust and damping the area down.

The fire was ruled accidental and crews left the scene at around 11.40am.
