Steyning high street was closed between Elm Grove Lane and Church Street due to an oil spillage following a road traffic collision on Monday morning, according to West Sussex Highways.

The incident was reported to West Sussex Highways by Sussex Police.

Crews from West Sussex Highways attended the scene to put sand down to absorb the oil, according to a spokesman.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “Emergency services were called to a collision between a VW Polo car and a Nissan car in Steyning High Street just before 10am on Monday (November 20).

“No one was injured. The road was blocked for 50 minutes while the vehicles were removed.”
