Man suffers broken ankle after collision on A24 near Southwater

A 52-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital with a broken ankle after he was involved in a collision with a vehicle on the A24 near Southwater yesterday (Wednesday January 29).

The man, from Worthing, had been seen walking alongside the northbound A24 moments before the collision, which happened at about 5.40pm, a Sussex Police spokesperson said.

It is believed he went to cross over the road when the collision with the blue Vauxhall Corsa occurred.

The spokesperson said: “He was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton to be treated for a broken ankle and cuts and bruises.”

Sussex Air Ambulance and South East Coast Ambulance Service were also called to the scene.

PC Robin Elshof of the Sussex Road Policing Unit at Arundel said: “We are asking anyone who saw what happened to contact us via 101 or email [email protected] quoting serial 1068 of 29/1.”
