Local man dies and two others left in critical condition after A24 collision

A LOCAL man has died and two other men are in critical condition following a collision on Worthing Road near Southwater last night (Wednesday May 23).

Emergency services including an air ambulance attended the scene just off the A24 Hop Oast roundabout at around 4.45pm.

The collision involved a Ford Fiesta travelling west and a Toyota Landcruiser travelling east,

A spokeperson for Sussex Police said: “Tragically a 44-year-old local man who was a passenger in the Fiesta died at the scene. The 25-year old local man driving the Fiesta and a 27-year-old local man who was also a passenger in the same car were seriously injured and were airlifted to Kings College Hospital in South London, where both remain in a critical condition.

“The 44-year old local man driving the Landcruiser received a minor arm injury but did not require hospital treatment.”

He added: “We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or any events leading up to it to contact the Road Policing Unit via 101 quoting Operation Pelham.”
