Investigation '˜ongoing' into Hassocks house fire

The fire service has said the investigation into the house fire that broke out in Hassocks on Friday is '˜ongoing'.

Fire crews from Burgess Hill, Crawley, Steyning, Partridge, Bognor and Haywards Heath were called out just before 4pm on March 3 to a ‘well alight’ home in Sycamore Way, according to the fire service.

Firefighters use 6 breathing apparatus, two jets, two hose reels, one thermal imaging camera and hydrogen to tackle the blaze.

A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire and Rescue said the fire had started in a first floor bedroom but it has not yet been confirmed how the fire started.

They added that no injuries have been reported, however there was severe damage to the first floor of the home and slight smoke damage to the ground floor.

Fire crews left the scene at 19.01pm on Friday and the investigation into the fire is ongoing, according to the fire service.
