Horsham drink-drive campaign launched

A LOCAL drink-drive campaign has been launched by Horsham District Community Safety Partnership ahead of the festive season.

Bar staff at B52’s in Piries Place joined forces with the Pubwatch initiative to put the message out last night (Thursday December 8).

This year’s warning to drivers not to get behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol or drugs will come in the form of t-shirt worn by staff across town centre pubs.

The road safety message reads: “Not everyone who gets hit by a drunk driver dies...it’s just highly likely.

“If you drive you don’t drink simple as that.”

They will don this warning throughout their shift.

To launch campaign, B52’s is offering all drivers free soft drinks from December 8 to December 11.

Gill Starkie, road safet officer for West Sussex County Council, said: “Plan ahead.

“Just think before heading out about how you’re going to get home.

“The campaign speaks for itself and we hope - working with many partnerships - we can get the message across this Christmas.”
