Five-car collision causes major delays on M25 and M23

Drivers travelling on the M23 and M25 face very long delays following a five-car collision earlier today (Saturday September 28) on the M25.

There is queueing traffic for 17 miles on the M25.

The main road is closed, with traffic being routed around the junction and back on again, on to the M25 clockwise at Junction 8, A217 (Reigate),

The congestion is up to Junction 5 (M26).

One lane closed and there is queueing traffic for 12 miles and long delays on the M25 anti-clockwise between Junction 8, A217 (Reigate) and Junction 7 M23.

As a result there is also queueing traffic for five miles and long delays on the M23 northbound before the M25 (Junction 7).

The carriageway is likely to remain closed for a while as accident investigation work is carried out.

The incident involved one vehicle which crashed through the central reservation and collided with other vehicles.
