Fire starts in debris of Billingshurst home wrecked by blaze
Firefighters were called back to the scene of a blaze which wrecked a home in Billingshurst after smoke was spotted coming from the debris.
Crews were called to the house in The Alders at around 12.30pm yesterday (Thursday August 18).
A spokesman for the fire service said part of the debris on the first floor had ‘re-ignited’ causing a small fire.
Crews from Horsham and Billingshurst attended and put out the flames with a bucket of water. They left half an hour later.
Six appliances, as well as officers and support appliances, were deployed when the fire first broke out on Monday, August 15.
The blaze raged for more than two-and-a-half hours and destroyed the roof and the first floor of the property as well as severely damaging the ground floor, the fire service said.
The family were left devastated by the loss of their home.
