Fire destroys five acres of stubble in Cowfold field

A blaze destroyed around five acres of stubble in a field in Cowfold yesterday (Sunday August 9).

Firefighters were called to the field off Henfield Road at around 3.25pm,

Units from Partridge Green, Billingshurst and Storrington used a vehicle with a water tank, three hose reels, two water backpack sprayers and beaters to fight the flames.

The fire was ruled accidental and the crews left the scene at around 4.35pm.
