A24 Kingsfold fatal collision - woman named

A woman who died following a serious collision on the A24, near Horsham yesterday (Thursday July 4) has been named by police.

She was Shelby Gillespie-Boarer, aged 20, of Hart Road, Dorking.

Emergency services were called to the scene just north of Kingsfold at 7.29am where a Nissan Micra and Ford Focus had collided, blocking the northbound carriageway of the busy Horsham to Dorking road.

Both drivers had to be cut from their vehicles by firefighters.

Miss Gillespie-Boarer who was driving the Nissan was declared dead at the scene.

A 49-year-old man from Horsham, driving the Focus, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious injuries where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The road was closed between the Great Daux and Clark’s Green roundabouts while rescue, recovery and collision investigation work took place.

It was re-opened shortly before 12.30pm.
