New junctions and a replacement footbridge will be built to link the busy dual carriageway to the new Highwood and Wickhurst Green housing estates.

The work - to take place between the Hop Oast and Farthings Hill junctions - will start on June 9 and is scheduled to take 18 months.

During this time both the north and southbound A24 will be restricted to a single lane in each direction.

The works are designed to ease traffic pressure on the Farthings Hill interchange and the A264. The new junctions will provide dedicated access roads to the Highwood housing development to the east of the A24, near Horsham, and the Wickhurst Green development to the west of the A24, which adjoins Broadbridge Heath.

A new vehicle bridge crossing the A24 will also be created to link Highwood and Wickhurst Green, where more than 2,000 new homes are being built as part of the West of Horsham development.

Contractor J Breheny will be on site between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday, with work on Saturdays when necessary.

A spokesperson for J Breheny said motorists travelling during peak hours are advised to allow extra time for their journey and 24-hour access will be maintained for businesses.
