Firefighters have tackled three chimney fires at houses in the Horsham area in the space of three days this week.

Fires were extinguished at a home in Crawley Road, Horsham after 4pm on Saturday (December 6), in Farhalls Crescent, Roffey at 2pm on Sunday (December 7) and Church Lane, Plummers Plain after 6pm on Monday (December 8).

Last week, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service issued a warning to homeowners following two chimney fires in two hours.

Advice issued by the fire service includes having a chimney swept once a year, ensuring the fire is out before going to bed or leaving the house, and that the home’s smoke alarm is working.
