Chris Reed, 30, who lives in Mapledown Close with his wife, woke up on Sunday morning to find two four-letter expletives scratched into the bodywork of his silver Volkswagen Golf.

No arrests have been made and he is offering a £200 reward for substantial information leading to the guaranteed conviction of the person responsible.

Mr Reed said: “I was very angered by it. I have my suspicions but without any evidence I can’t do anything regarding it.

“I feel victimised and unsafe and I am a bit disappointed that nothing has been done about it.

“It’s not the sort of thing that happens around here. It’s not that sort of area and it has upset the neighbours.”

He last saw his car undamaged outside his Southwater home at 8pm on Saturday April 26 and woke up at 9.30am on Sunday April 27, and believes the swear words were scrawled on his car between those times.

On both the driver and passenger side of his car the four-letter words had been scratched into the bodywork in large letters.

Mr Reed has been at the current property for more than three years but has lived in the Cedar Drive area for most of his life.

He added: “The neighbours are disgusted and are shocked at what has happened and they will be looking out, not just for myself, but for everyone.

“I would like to thank them for their support and I’m very grateful for the neighbours’ comments and their kind words.”

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said that anyone with information regarding the incident could contact them by calling 101 or emailing [email protected] quoting serial 0425 of 27.4.
