The new housing development is being built on the former Cemex Quarry site.

Once finished, vehicles will be able to turn right into the new housing estate.

The developer is paying for the works, which are a planning requirement for the new housing.

It is expected to last for up to 20 weeks.

During the majority of the works programme there will be the need for traffic management and the use of two way traffic lights 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on Washington Road.

A temporary 30mph speed limit will be enforced throughout the duration of the works to protect the workforce and travelling public.
