String scheme hitting the right note

A PIONEERING music scheme has been introduced into a West Sussex school for the first time.

Stringbabies, the brainchild of Kay Tucker from Horsham, teaches children as young as three to play musical instruments and read music.

Amberley C of E school in School Road, Amberley, is the first in the county to become partners in the programme, with five pupils taking part in the pilot.

Kay said: “In just three weeks, the newest Stringbabies students have already demonstrated that they understand the concepts of pitch and rhythm, and can make up their own musical ideas and play, clap or sing them back with total accuracy.”

Headteacher Michelle Clifford and all the staff are said to be ‘delighted that this scheme has started in the school and hope that it goes from strength to strength’.
