A Storrington charity has received a £730 donation as part of the Waitrose Community Matters scheme.

Of the many green tokens that customers placed in the box of their choice at the Storrington store, Community Minibus Association for West Sussex was awarded more than two thirds of the total amount awarded each month.

The charity provides community transport for those unable to use public transport.

The door-to-door service is extremely valued by older residents and in particular allows them to undertake their weekly shopping or socialise for coffee or lunches, or take trips around the county.

Trustee Steve Whyley said: “Funds received from donations and grants enable us to maintain affordable fees for our trips. Many of the passengers have only state pension income so every penny counts.”
