Snow forecast for Sussex gets the cold shoulder

Snow is not on the way – despite national newspaper claims.

The Daily Express reports today that a lengthy spell of extreme and potentially devastating winter weather is just around the corner, with blizzards, record-low temperatures and polar gales.

However, a Met Office spokesman said that snow won’t be arriving on low-lying ground, although there might be a light dusting over the Scottish Highlands, which is not unusual.

“Next week will feel cold in comparison to the recent very mild weather.”

The spokesman questioned the reliability of national newspapers’ sources in weather stories.

The long range forecast for the south is for some wet and windy weather with temperatures heading towards those normal for the time of year.
