Crowds and participants braved the showers on Saturday ((August 20) as Ashington Carnival wound its way through the village.

A variety of amazing costumes were on show, with Carnival Princess, Amber Loisy, 12, taking pride of place in the procession.

The carnival kicked off Ashington festival which featured music and family fun throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
