YOUNGSTERS due to go to secondary schools in the autumn have been left wondering if they have got their first choice after an ‘IT issue’ at West Sussex County Council.
A Horsham mum contacted the County Times when the council failed to send an email confirming her son’s place by Wednesday (March 2).
She said she opted to be informed by email rather than a letter in the second class post so they would find out quickly, as her son had chosen a school outside of their catchment area.
The email was supposed to be sent on Tuesday but a message on the council’s website on Wednesday said: “Due to an IT issue we have been unable to send out the allocation email for secondary schools. We hope to resolve the issue soon.
“Offer letters have been sent and will be with you shortly.”
The mum said: “I have a very anxious boy as he wants to know which school he is going to.”
