Scouts, Cubs and Leaders of the 5th/10th Horsham Group will join the Horsham Riverside Walk on the 25th July to make an even larger number of walkers taking part than last year.
Around 30 members of the Group will use this as an opportunity to ask parents, family and friends to sponsor them to raise funds for a planned international visit.
Jane Apostolou, one of the organisers, said, “We are thrilled that the scouts want to join us on the Walk. We are sure that they will enjoy it and is good experience for any future expeditions they undertake. Other volunteer groups are also welcome to join us.”
The Riverside Walk is a handy and attractive local amenity linking major green spaces in Horsham, such as Warnham Nature Reserve, Chesworth Farm, Leechpool and Owlbeech Woods. Its 13-mile circular route follows the River Arun and other water courses. New benches were installed last year to allow for rest stops and the brand new directional signs make it easy for walkers to find their way.
It is easily accessed from many parts of the town and is never far from bus stops.
On 25th July, the Walk starts from the Rugby Club at 10am and finishes at the same place at around 5pm. Walkers will be able to walk at their own pace and trained Stewards along the route will be able to help if assistance is needed.
There will be refreshment stops along the route and a free mini bus will return walkers to the starting point if they wish.
Almost 200 people joined the walk last year and that number is expected to increase this year.
To help plan the event, the organisers would like those wishing to join the Walk to register by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or phoning 01403 215269 with the names of all those in that group.
