Isabelle’s mother Liz Randall said: “We’re thrilled that Isabelle has been nominated for ‘Young Sibling of the Year’ at this year’s Sense Awards.

“Isabelle is a phenomenal big sister, who is loving, gentle and caring with an emotional intelligence beyond her years. Luke is non-verbal but Isabelle’s ability to ‘read’ him is amazing and she always seems to know what he wants and needs.

“She is the embodiment of inclusion, always going out of her way to help look after her brother, whilst staying positive, helpful and fun. As a family we’re so proud of her generous selfless spirit and the way she helps to support us and Luke every single day.

“When we received the letter explaining Isabelle had been shortlisted for an award, we were overwhelmed with pride. It is wonderful that Sense have honoured Isabelle with the recognition she deserves.”

Isabelle attends Upper Beeding Primary School and recently accompanied her family to the BBC studios in Manchester.

She spoke about how she plays with her brother and helps her mum and dad during a live sofa interview.

She has now been nominated as one of the most inspirational siblings in the country for her role as an advocate for her brother and other deafblind children.

Sense Chief Executive Gill Morbey said: “People who are deafblind, and those with complex needs, often face major challenges in life. The Sense Awards recognise some of the fantastic achievements of these individuals, as well as the work of the wonderful people who support them. We’d like to congratulate everyone that’s been nominated for an award.”
