Homes at Standings Court, Saxon Weald’s development of eco-friendly homes, have been shortlisted.

The 12 passivhaus houses are designed to be air tight, meaning heating bills can be around a tenth of those in a conventional home.

Ventilation is provided by a system that takes stale, moist air and replaces it with fresh, dry air, using the heat from the old air to warm the new.

The homes, completed in 2012, were designed by MH Architects, and have already received an award from the Horsham Society.

The results of the Passivhaus Trust awards will be announced on July 1 in a ceremony at the Museum of London.
