Sainsbury’s Horsham welcomed the 1st Roffey Brownies to the store to work towards a badge and for a special bakery lesson.
Bakery Manager Robin Davies from the Horsham Store gave the brownies a talk including an introduction to baking, how bread is made and a little of the science of baking before offering treats for them to sample.
Whilst at the store the brownies also worked towards their Number Fun Badge by listing ingredients for a simple meal, working out the ingredients needed and the cost.
Brown Owl Carol Cornish said: “We were thrilled that Sainsbury’s agreed for us to come into the store to research for the badge, and the added bonus of a lesson on baking was wonderful. The girls had a lot of fun learning about the science of bread making and really enjoyed tasting the Hot Cross Buns.”
Sainsbury’s Horsham Store Manager Derek Boarer, said: “Our store is at the heart of the local community and is important we can play our part to support it. When we heard about the Brownies visit, we were keen to get involved.”
