Gobsmack Comics is celebrating a successful first week in its permanent spot in Piries Place, Horsham, which opened thanks to the support of a crowd-funding campaign.
The internet-based business had a pop-up shop in Swan Walk in September, and decided to make the move into a full-scale retail unit.
Owner Drew Dewsall said: “After we were turned down for funding by the bank we turned to the local community with a crowd funding campaign and people were so keen to have the shop in Horsham we were able to get the funding we needed. It shows the need for variety in the high street and how shops like this really capture the imagination of the whole community.”
A crowd had gathered outside waiting for the doors to open on Saturday morning, and a steady stream of people came through the door during the day to be met by Batgirl, and check out the cool merchandise on display.
“The opening day was a roaring success with the shop being full of customers all day and the feedback from customers was incredible with many commenting that the shop was exactly what the town neede,” Drew said. “If the opening day is anything to go by then Gobsmack Comics will be a great addition to the town and they will be around for some time to come. So drop by Piries Place in Horsham to check out the towns coolest place to shop!”
