Road closes for 18 weeks

South East Water has closed a road for 18 weeks to upgrade an old pipeline near Haywards Heath.

The water main under Borde Hill Lane has burst 11 times over the last five years.

The works to upgrade a 1.3km section of the main started on Monday (January 11) and were part of a wider £424 million five year investment programme.

During the project, traffic will be diverted through Balcombe Road, Mill Green Road, B2028, B2272 , Tylers Green, Broad Street, Brook Street, London Road, Haywards Heath Road, Stone Hall Lane and vice versa.

The majority of work will take place between Copyhold Lane, 400m north of River’s Road and just south of Upper Rylands Bridge.
