At last Wednesday’s full council meeting where the future of Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre was decided, leader of Horsham District Council Ray Dawe said the following.
He said: “When I took over as Leader of the Council last December, I said that we would listen to what people were saying about the future of this leisure centre.
“As a result, we embarked upon six months of intense consultation and discussion and the proposal put to the Council reflected this huge activity.
“I believe that this plan will give the people our District, especially those who live around Horsham town, a further purpose-built leisure facility that enhances the other excellent facilities we already have on offer.
“At the same time, it balances the fact that we have also to look after the other 125,000 people of our District who pay taxes but do not use it.
“There is still a lot to do to turn this proposal into a reality but I believe that we now have a really firm base to move the plans forward.”
