Race proceeds given to South Downs play scheme

Mel’s Milers running club host their annual 10k race in March, with the proceeds going to a chosen charity - this year it was Chanctonbury Community Play Scheme.

On Sunday the running club, which is based at Bluecoat Sports Centre, Christ’s Hospital, presented a cheque for £1,500 to the village play scheme.

Keith Woodcock accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity.

Chanctonbury Community Play Scheme, based in Storrington, allows four weeks of respite day care during the summer months for parents of children with special needs.

Robin Fairhurst of Mel’s Milers said: “The charity was more than grateful, as it is dependent on donations and support, towards the total cost of 60k required per annum, to maintain the charity.”
