Pupils from St Mary’s Pulborough CoE (Aided) Primary School were keen to share their thoughts on the new County Times this week.
The Year 5 children seemed positive about the compact switch, praising the varied content and coverage of events in Horsham district.
“The new one won’t swallow me,” one said.
They added that they were using the County Times in classes on persuasive writing.
Emily Dodd, a pupil, said: “It reports the facts not gossip. Glossy magazines it’s gossip and things that are not true, but newspapers it’s just to get people interested.”
Ten pupils spent some of Tuesday morning cutting out mastheads for the County Times’ current Cash for Schools campaign.
Alyson Heath, headteacher of St Mary’s, said: “Any initiative that supports schools and developing their resources is a good idea wherever it comes from.
“We help the community and it’s nice when the community offers something back.
“We are an inclusive community school where all children are welcome.”
The pupils themselves said: “It’s about being with our friends, being busy and it’s just a nice school where you are accepted whoever you are.”
